R.I.P. Kenny Rogers
Kenny Rogers passed away. The official account of the beloved and respected artist tweeted March 21:
The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25PM at the age of 81. Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.
In a career spanning over 6 decades, Rogers was known for many hits, but the most memorable for Bee Gees fans is ‘Islands In The Stream’ (1983) written by the Gibb brothers for Rogers and Dolly Parton. At the top is a video featuring the demo version with lead vocals provided by Barry.
And here is a stellar performance by the legendary twosome.
Following the sad announcement, Dolly Parton tweeted an emotional video of herself talking about her friendship and partnership with Kenny Rogers. The world is an increasingly lonely place, indeed.
