Today (October 19) in 1974, the Bee Gees kicked off the Japanese leg of “Mr. Natural” tour with a sold-out gig in Tokyo

The year’s set started with “In My Own Time” followed by “Road to Alaska.”  A rocking start, indeed.

The playlist is as follows:

In My Own Time
Road to Alaska
Mr. Natural
Murley Purt Drive
Down The Road
World
And The Sun Will Shine
I Can’t See Nobody
Run To Me
Lay It On Me
In The Morning (Morning Of My Life)
Alexander’s Ragtime Band
To Love Somebody
I Started A Joke
How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
Words
I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You

(Introduction of the band)
Massachusetts
Lonely Days
Heavy Breathing [Encore]*
* Sometimes Spicks & Specks [Encore]

Despite the fact that this was the very final stop of the long tour, all three brothers were in fine voice.  Barry was in his top form as he delivered “Murley Purt Drive.”  Robin’s intense vivrato brought down the house with “And The Sun Will Shine.”  Maurice left the audience reeling and shaking with “Lay It On Me.”  At the end of the show, they sometimes played “Heavy Breathing” for almost twenty minutes as the audience refused to let go.
