Barry Gibb to embark on a world tour?
According to Herald Sun (online version dated September 23, 2012), Barry Gibb will kick off the Mythology World Tour with three shows in Australia.
The article quotes Barry as saying that he and Robin had begun planning shows before he became seriously ill with cancer earlier this year and he would honour him by opening his Mythology world tour in Australia in February. Barry also has plans to visit the family’s former home in Redcliffe and seek out old stomping grounds where the Bee Gees performed in the mid 1960s.
"It will be a sentimental journey.
"Coming home to Australia will be a wake-up call for me. I love the place so much and I think I will always feel like the 12-year-old kid who loved the beach and the girls during summer holidays.
""I want to go and see the places we grew up even if the buildings aren’t there anymore.
"I’m coming home to find some kind of closure after losing my three brothers, to reflect and go over all those memories.”
Barry also speaks of how he believes that the families will be "a bit estranged," but admits that having his eldest son Stephen and Maurice’s daughter Samantha by his side while performing some of the Bee Gees’ more emotional anthems keeps him focused.
The Mythology tour will open at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on February 8, then go on to Rod Laver Arena on February 12 and finishing in the Bee Gees’ hometown at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 16. According to the Herald Sun, the tickets will go on sale from October 5.
This has not been confirmed yet. But whatever Barry Gibb decides to do, we will be with him all the way.
